On a daily basis I come across multiple blogs. Some of them I read, some of them I don’t. It depends on the subject matter, the style of writing and the amount of time I have at that point in my working day.
The question is do I join in with a blog of my own? Does anyone want to read what I have to say? Should it be personal, professional or anecdotal? What about Vlogs? Should I do those as well/instead?
So, now I’ve asked all these questions I’m going to do that really annoying thing where I answer myself!
With a rebrand and a new website underway now is the ideal time to introduce ourselves and what we do to anyone who might be interested and to hopefully catch the eye of a few random scrollers too.
With a passion for the written word the blog vs vlog question is a no brainer. When I was younger I loved writing poetry and short stories but as life got busier I got out of the habit. Writing a poem for a friend a few weeks ago reminded me just how much I love writing so blogging is an easy choice for me. There’s no need to put lipstick on for a blog either so extra bonus!
If you’re keeping count that’s two questions answered and two to go. These are the tough ones though. What shall I write about and will anyone read it? I genuinely dislike the phrase “be authentic” but write what you know and be who you are is something I live by. As a major sufferers of imposter syndrome it’s difficult to put yourself and your thoughts out in the public arena but, even in a time of zoom calls and remote working, people do business with people and want to know who you are.
Which brings me to the final question, the honest answer is I don’t know if anyone will be interested in reading my random thoughts but I hope so. When writing previously I didn’t worry about that. I wrote for myself for the pleasure it gave me and to make sense of ideas swirling around my brain. If I can entertain or engage a few others along the way then I’ll be happy.
